Garnet zone (Sample 7153)

The assemblage is Grt + Bt + Chl + Ms + Qtz.
Garnet porphyroblasts showing good crystal shape grow over a strong schistosity defined by white mica flakes, which has been gently crenulated. Biotite occurs, like garnet, as porphyroblasts. The small dark elongate grains in the matrix are high-relief epidote prisms and grains of a tabular opaque mineral (ilmenite).

Field of view is 3 mm wide.
