Relict sedimentary texture.
This is a gritty low-grade metasediment from the biotite
zone of the Scottish Dalradian. The outlines of clastic grains of quartz and twinned feldspar are
still clearly visible, although the clayey matrix has recrystallised to fine-grained metamorphic
micas.
Crossed polars. Field of view is 2.5 mm across.
