Rotated porphyroblast (pre-kinematic).
The yellow poikiloblast of staurolite in the centre of the field of view
occupies a lenticular domain which the matrix foliation wraps around.
The internal fabric in the staurolite is sharply discordant to that
in the matrix. The poikiloblast grew before the deformation which
formed the matrix foliation.
Plane-polarised light. Field of view is 2.5 mm across.
