This is a soft grey-brown mudstone packed with complete and
fragmented shells of bivalve molluscs. It would have been
deposited in quiet but rather shallow water: quiet water in
order to allow the fine-grained particles to settle, but
shallow enough for bottom-living shellfish to live in the
area.
