Garnet Amphibolite, Garnet zone (Sample 69-154)

The assemblage is Grt + Hbl + Pl + Ep + Bt + Qtz.
The abundant amphibole is a dark blue-green, strongly-pleochroic Al-bearing hornblende, as opposed to the Al-poor actinolite of the greenschist. The plagioclase, forming large clear patches studded with epidote inclusions and small biotite flakes, is oligoclase-andesine. Garnet forms scattered subhedral to euhedral porphyroblasts.
